Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education (TNBSE) was established in 1910 and it conducted first Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination in 1911. Tamilnadu Board conducts Matriculation from 1979, Anglo Indian from 1979 and Higher Secondary from 1980. The Director of Government Examinations Tamil Nadu has 7 regional offices at Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Chennai, Cuddalore and Vellore. Every year about 15 lakh students appear in annual examinations conducted as Tamilnadu SSLC and HSC. Apart from that, TN Board conducts examinations for OSLC, Diploma, ESLC, etc. examinations. The annual examinations of TNBSE are conducted in March or April and supplementary in June or October every year.
